Hello! I’m Michel Ann O’Malley.

Since having my first child in April of 2022, a second brain surgery in June of the same year, and celebrating my seventh year of survival with brain cancer in January of 2024, I am motived, alive, and in the most creative period of my life.

I found art almost 20 years ago, where my love of photography began in my high school darkroom. While at Boston University, my studies were focused on photojournalism and advertising, while my free time was focused on producing fashion shoots and shooting for the school paper The Daily Free Press.

Before my “professional” career began, I spent 3 years as a working model in New York City, providing a different perspective into the world of art and commercial photography. At the pinnacle of that experience, I was a cast member and model on Project Runway Season 9.

Since that time I have made it a priority to hold creative positions where photography was at the forefront. Professional experiences include photo assistant intern for celebrity photographer Danielle Levitt, art buying intern at advertising agency TBWA/chiat/day LA, press photographer for Hall Company public relations NYC, first photo assistant to lifestyle photographer Helmuth Humphrey and creative production assistant in the interior design department at Wadia Associates architecture firm.

Through the years and currently, I work as a freelance photographer, mixed-medium artist and production assistant in Portland, Oregon. I am happiest when working creatively on an inspiring project or traveling anywhere with my D810 in hand.

Best advice ever given: It’s all in the details.
